Talk about memories; I remember the Vendone when it was a true 'flophouse' 30 years ago.

My hat is off to the City of San Mateo, and friends for stepping up and rehabbing that once dilapidated building.

Homeowner Bailouts = Renters Getting Robbed! Homeowners think I should keep the fraudulent value of their homes propped up just because they were part of the greatest criminal conspiracy this country has ever seen. I didn't realize renters were treated as second class citizens in this country. You steal my money to give to people that work at Taco Bell, so they can keep living in a $300K house. Corrupt homeowners think that just because they WISH their house is worth so much - that makes it true. I hope the day comes when stupid publically school taught renters finally realize they are getting raped on a daily basis by these Yuppie Scumbag Trash & rise up & fight to take back this country from the criminals that run it!

WE NEED RENT CONTROL IN THE CITIES OF SAN MATEO COUNTY. THIS COULD HELP LOTS OF LOW INCOME PEOPLE AND FAMILIES.WHY IT IS NOT,I DO NOT NO. BUT I KNOW WE NEED IT NOW EVERYONE IS LOSING THERE JOBS THERE IS NO WORK MOST PEOPLE I TALK TO ARE HURTING BAD.THE CITIES COULD HELP. WITH RENT CONTROL, AT LEAST PEOPLE CAN AFFORD TO STAY IN THERE RENTAL. THE RENTS HAVE GONE UP UP UP WITH NO PROTECTION FOR RENTERS THERE SHOULD BE A LIMIT ON INCREASES SO PEOPLE ARE NOT FORCED TO MOVE OR GO HOMELESS. AND WE NO ABOUT AFFORDABLE HOUSING IN SAN MATEO 3 TO 5 YEAR WAITING LIST USELESS FOR MOST CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE INCOME,NOT LOW ENOUGH BUT NOT A ENOUGH I SURE WOULD LIKE TO SEE SOME HELP

maybe they should all adopt the rules for entry that Maple Street has... which for one is passing a background check. Yes they will pry into the homeless candidates background looking for various things that would disqualify them from staying at shelter with no regard for attitude and status of past stays at shelter. Must be nice to receive monies and grants from anyone willing to donate yet pick and choose who is worthy to come into thier shelter. Typical of the way San Mateo Co. has treated those that have crossed the lines of lawfulness in thier county. Anyone with a bit of experience knows that without funds to hire an attorney in San Mateo Co. you are subject to be represented by a Public Defender who will in most cases do the least they can get away with and are very experienced in how to avoid documentation to thier ineptness. Well apparently because of my past I will have to relocate or spend the winter on the streets of Redwood City in the blistering cold. With no regard to my advanced age and change of attitude and lifestyle in order to conform to a rightful way of living. Maple Street enjoy your donations and grants from the wealthiest people and businesses on the planet and if your concience should start to bother you just have another cup of holiday cheer and a turkey sandwich. I find that a perfect combination when guilt tries to infect my heart. Merry Christmas all...

san mateo council the 10 year plan for the homeless, Lets start with some rent control in san mateo, hmmmmmm maybe it can stop some homelessness. the rent increases are getting out of control.[what rights do san mateo renters have] none none none we need rent control.in ssf,san bruno, all the citys of san mateo. I'm affarid I'll be homeless, we just got an increase of 275.00 thats a lot. and I can get another next month and so on. so you tell me what protection to I have. My fear is if you don't do something there will be lots of homeless in san mateo county.please take a stand for the renters we need help. the law should be maybe a 3% increase a year, just make it fare and affordable for renters. I've been renting for 20 years in south san francisco and all this time I thought I had rights.but there are none. its time for change. people are having it really hard rihgt now not just homeowners but renters to.who is helping the renters. hopefully you guys can do something or I will. thank you yvonne
