Initiative to be filed today on Redwood City Saltworks

March 6, 2008 – 10:56 am

Today, the San Mateo Daily Journal’s front-page, above-the-fold story reports:

A trio of environmental groups plan to announce a ballot measure today to protect parks and open space in Redwood City… This morning, Save the Bay Executive Director David Lewis, Ralph Nobles of Friends of Redwood City and Lennie Roberts of the Committee for Green Foothills are holding a press conference in front of City Hall to “announce a ballot measure to protect the precious and limited parks and open space in Redwood City,” according to a press release.

Housing Leadership Council will follow this with interest. HLC is on record saying that we could consider endorsing a proposal for re-use of the Redwood City Industrial Saltworks site, if it has a balance of open space and housing, and if any proposed development met our criteria for endorsement. Note that there is no proposal yet, and HLC has not endorsed anything.
