5:30 PM - 8:30 PM:Healthy Communities Forum - Workforce Housing and Health. A free event. Join us and explore how the various facets of the health of our cities - economic, environmental, and social - intersect with housing. Each Forum is a unique opportunity for decision makers, community leaders, and the general public to listen to visionary speakers share their knowledge related to a specific aspect of a healthy community. Participants engage in dialogue to connect the vision of a healthy community to their own community, discuss solutions, and together decide on meaningful next steps.

10:00 AM - 12:00 PM:Lived Experience Forum on Housing and Homelessness: A powerful and informative meeting from our consumer trainers on the impact of homelessness, and what has (or could ) helped them obtain and remain in safe, livable housing. Come join local real estate professionals as they gear up a three-pronged effort to bring vital information and assistance to the community about first time homeownership, foreclosure assistance, and recovering from a foreclosure through credit recovery.

8:30 AM - 4:15 PM:Habitat for Humanity - Home Building Event Help make a difference in the lives of members of our community. Volunteer to help build a brand new 36-unit condominium development.
12:00 PM - 2:00 PM:Ribbon Cutting for Midway Village. A free event. Come join us as we celebrate a ribbon cutting event at Midway Village. Originally built in 1976, it consists of 150 town-home style units, which are owned and operated by the Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo (HACSM). Program will include tours of various upgrades to the buildings and grounds including our brand new community center.
4:00 PM - 6:00 PM:Grand Opening of Cedar Street Apartments. A free event. This 15-unit development will be provided much needed supportive housing to some of the most vulnerable of our community.

6:00 PM - 7:45PM:Homebuying 101: The Basics of Ownership. A free event. The San Mateo County Association of Realtors (SAMCAR) is presenting an educational workshop entitled "Home Buying 101" for first-time home buyers, as a part of Affordable Housing Week 2012.
Professionals in finance, title, credit, and real estate will provide both step-by-step training on the basics of home ownership and answer all your questions in an interactive setting. This workshop will provide the A,B,C's of what to do when buying a home, whether now or in the future.
7:30 am - 9:00 am:HLC Legislative Breakfast.A free event. The theme this year will be "Affordable Housing in a Post-RDA California." We will be exploring the current prospects for affordable housing creation and then look to the future. Guests include CA Assemblymember Jerry Hill.

8:30 am - 1:30 pm:Bus and Site Tour - Creating Communities along the Grand Boulevard.A free event. A unique opportunity to see up close the progress that has been made in north San Mateo County towards realizing the vision of the Grand Boulevard. Stay a bit longer and continue the conversation over a self-funded lunch.
NHORA is pleased to invite your attendance to the May 12th, Luncheon Presentation of The Bay Area Latino Report, the first in a series of NHORA lead presentations featuring bay area leaders in dialog to offer solutions to the issues of our day.
This panel presentation will address the affordability in housing and jobs imbalance with an emphasis on political representation, the role of non-profits, and the Latino entrepreneurial spirit.
Our featured speakers will pose issues and solutions bringing light to our community and invite further exploration of the talents and resources our population has to offer.
We are honored to participate in The Housing Leadership Council program for Affordable Housing Week in San Mateo County to address affordability/sustainability issues within the Latino Community and welcome your participation within the NHORA network of professionals as we work together to empower our community and plant the seeds for change.
